THE WHAT? Symrise has sold its AmeriTerpenes terpene ingredients business to private equity investor Mutares as it streamlines its portfolio and focuses investment and management resources on core growth platforms.

THE DETAILS AmeriTerpenes manufactures renewable terpene ingredients for fragrance, flavour and industrial applications from facilities in Jacksonville, Florida, and Colonels Island, Georgia. The business will become a new platform investment within Mutares’ Chemicals & Materials segment, while Symrise will maintain a commercial relationship with AmeriTerpenes through long-term supply agreements securing access to renewable terpene-based raw materials. Financial terms were not disclosed, although Symrise expects the disposal to result in a non-cash loss in the mid-double-digit million-euro range in its 2026 financial statements.

THE WHY? The divestment advances Symrise’s ONE Symrise strategy of portfolio optimisation, disciplined capital allocation and greater focus on its core growth businesses, while maintaining access to strategically important renewable fragrance and flavour ingredients through its continuing supply relationship with AmeriTerpenes.
